Anyone who cannot meet their daily communication needs with verbal speech alone may benefit from using some type of AAC support or device. This includes children with delayed language development or people of any age who are hard to understand or have unreliable speech due to a variety of diagnoses. Many of my clients are Autistic.

Services are provided in your home. Communication Express is pleased to offer services to the Houston Area inside Beltway 8. Homes within Grand Highway 99 may be considered for an additional travel fee. 

Total time varies, but expect a timeline of a few months from initial contact to finally receiving a personally-owned AAC device. This takes into account 6-8 weeks of trialing systems to find the best fit, as well as securing funding (be it private pay, insurance coverage, or another source such as a grant or non-profit).

Until recently, all information about autism came from non-autistic researchers and professors. They taught that autistic traits should be eliminated. Now, we listen to actually autistic voices and celebrate the ways that our brains are different! Affirming therapy focuses on connection and encourages sensory regulation.
